La Grotta di Aligi offers a wide selection of regional cuisine, and after a long day walking or skiing through the peaks the warming soups, rich pasta dishes and hearty cuts of red meat will usually be favoured, washed down with an ever warming carafe of rich Italian full bodied wine.
Famous local specialties include the warming ‘Zuppa de Farro’, excellent quality locally produced beef and pork products as well as home made pasta dishes - the traditional and tested classics as well as innovative interpretations by our famous chef that will both delight and fascinate in equal measure. There is also a selective delivery of fresh fish and crustaceans from the bountiful waters of the Adriatic coast to the eastern side of Abruzzo.
There’s a medieval coat of arms to oversee your selection of wine and food and make sure everything is in order! The walls and cubbies are all decorated with some of the most amazing sports memorabilia, including not one but two signed boxing gloves of Muhammad Ali! Countless signed shirts and pictures of famous footballers ranging from the greats like Maradonna and Pele, to more modern events such as the now famous 2006 Liverpool Champions League winning plaque signed by captain Steven Gerrard.
