In the heart of the mountainous district of Abruzzo, L’Aquila holds the privileged position of being close to both the Adriatic coastline and the capital city of Italy, Rome. An hour and a half by coach from Roma, this stunning regional administrative centre boasts a variety of architectural styles representing various periods since its foundation from 99 parishes in the 13th century.

 
 

Location

Just 200 yards down from the central Piazza del Duomo as well as picturesque municipal buildings and a buzzing daily market, the Grand Hotel e del Parco could not be more centrally located. The automatic escalators carry you straight up the hill from the coach station and parking facilities and the last staircase leads you straight to the heart of the Piazza itself!

This beautiful town is the ideal base from which to explore the Italian peninsular. It’s highly recommended you hire a car and we’ll be happy to assist you in doing so. In the surrounding region you can find some of the finest ski resorts in the country as well as hiking or trekking opportunities to die for. The scenery and natural landscape of this part of the world is truly unparalleled and even offers a pleasant climate to boot despite its high altitude.

If travelling by car from the capital take the Grande Raccordo Annulare ring road until the exit marked L’Aquila Ovest and continue along the A24 until the exits for L’Aquila are signalled. It should be around one and a half hour’s drive from the city centre if the traffic is not busy.

The coach for L’Aquila should take around one and a half to two hours and leaves from Tiburtina National Coach Station which is along Metro Line B next to Tiburtina Train Station in the north of Rome.
